Boogie Basham is a 6-foot-3 wide receiver out of Ohio University. He has great speed and was able to finish as the leader of his team in touchdowns with 16. He also has great hands and averaged over 20 yards a reception with 28. He was also the main target for his team in receptions, with 42. And one stat that cannot go overlooked about his talents is his rushing skills. He rushed for 521 yards and 8 touchdowns in his senior year with the Bobcats. He is also a very skilled kick returner, with a career average of 21.7 yards and a touchdown per kick return.

After the entire season, the Buffalo Bills didn’t have a true speed receiver who could consistently separate from the coverage and take the top off of the defense.
Why Boogie is a Great Pick for the Bills
While there are a few things that will help Boogie Basham make the team and make his presence felt, his abilities come from several areas that made him a great pick for the Bills. In his rookie season, he was able to play in 14 games and started in three of them. Most people would be aware of how rare it is for a rookie to start in 3 games. Boogie was able to make an impact in all of the 3 games that he started for the team. On top of that, he finished the season with 3.5 sacks and 13 tackles. While a lot of people may not be too surprised by these numbers, it may not have occurred to most people that he had 3.5 sacks as a rookie. Only 3.5! Most rookie defensive ends don’t record more than 3.0 sacks in their first year.

As you can see by the stats he put up at Ohio, Basham is a good pass rusher. But what made people notice his potential and take him so high in the draft is his performance in the Senior Bowl. Being invited to the Senior Bowl was a surprise for Basham as it was the first time he was attending an NFL event and representing his college team. However, despite not playing the whole game, he dominated in every drill and was even named to the All-Star team! Basham was quite a beast during the game and his performance clearly reflected his future potential and his physical strength. But what I’m interested in is his potential impact for the Bills.
