In exchange for the team, Maybin and Scott agreed to give back the $1.2 million they had earned from their three seasons in the NFL and the three seasons of their NBA careers.

On January 2, 1967, Maybin’s and Scott’s sacrifice paid off. Ross was able to sell the team to Bill Parcells. It wasn’t long until the Dolphins had won their first championship in their first season under the ownership of Parcells. That season, the Dolphins achieved an amazing 11-3 record. This still stands as their record from 1967.
